Google would soon become digg, a social network, big daddy. According to Techcrunch, Google has been having on and off negiotation with Digg for the last six weeks. The two companies have reportedly signed a letter of intent and are close to a deal that will bring Digg under the Google News property at an acquisition of $200 million a source speculates. The companies are now in the final stage of negotiations although it could be a couple of weeks before it closes.

If this acquisition succeeds, this makes Digg to join the more than 50 companies Google has acquired globally. Google loves acquiring small already established internet related companies to boost its internet dominace.

If the deal is successful Digg would be on this list.
