How long will iPhone 3G be locked?

In this time of hackers, I am wondering how long will it take for the new iPhone 3G to be unlocked. According to dailytech news, “In China, demand for the new device was running high, with some dealers saying unlocked 3G-ready iPhones should fetch about US$700 once they’re available”.This is like $100 more with no contract in the U.S. I belive the young man, George Hotz will be working with this team to unlock this new iPhone.

I am inserting a poll to find out how long it would take to unlock the iphone.
