Making your Gmail secure means implementing SSL(Secure Sockets Layer). By default, your Gmail Inbox is not secure i.e the URL is missing an ’s’ at http. To be secure the address should start with https. The only page that is secured is the log in.

Try this

Click on this link or type in your address Gmail URL, you will notice the https in the URL. Log into Gmail and look at the address URL again. The https has changed to http.)

Why should you use https?

It is because email providers use a cookie. When you log into your email address, the cookie stores your information. If the cookie is not secure, an attacker with access to the local network can gain access to your information.

How do you make Gmail Secure

There are 2 ways of enabling encryption between Gmail servers and your browser
1. By typing ’s’ after http in the address URL to make it https when you log into your Gmail account.

2. By changing your Gmail settings. Log in your Gmail account, then Click on Settings at the top of the page. Set the Browser configuration to ‘Always use https.’
Then click on ‘Save Changes’ and go back to your Gmail Inbox.
